AUSTRALIAN OPEN – 1st Round summary

First rounds are always tricky, because nobody knows who is in good form and who is not. AUSTRALIAN OPEN is not exceptional. According to seeds there were 8 surprises in top 32players.

1. Auger Aliassime (#7) Retired after 3 sets…At least our PREDICTOR was perfect in first set 6-3!
2. Gea Arthur (Q) beat Lehecka Jiri (17). Close match. Predictor gave Lehecka preference to win although again perfectly showed Gea winning second set 7-6!
3. Fery Arthur (Q) vs Cobolli Flavio (20) we already mentioned about that in Day-1
4. Quinn Ethan beat Griekspoor Tallon (23). Griekspoor was favourite to win, so 0-3 is big surprize.
5. Marozsan Fabian beat Rinderknech Arthur (24). Close match with predictor giving each player 1 set.
6. van de Zandschulp Botic beat Nakashima Brandon (27). Nakashima won only 1 set with PREDICTOR showing only Perfect 2nd set 6-4 win
7. Spizzirri Eliot beat Fonseca Joao (28). 19 yrs old Fonseca is one of the most promising stars on the tour, so losing in first round must be a disappointing result for him and his fans.

Little statistics from 1st round:

Predictor shows scores only for 2 sets matches, so it’s even more impressive that it correctly showed at least 1 set Perfect score in 44 matches out 64. That’s Perfect set score in 68.75% matches!!

Basavareddy Nishesh (Q) – Prediction: 7-6 6-7…was 4-6 7-6(7) 6-7(3) 6-2 6-3. Another close match with EVEN prediction that had 2 tiebreaks (1 win each- predicted) and 5 sets

Opelka Reilly – Prediction: 6-4 6-4 was 6-4 6-3 6-4

Even when there are big surprizes Predictor is not completely wrong. Like in:
